A Bould choice but the right man for the job

8 05 2012

Ever since it was announced that Pat Rice would be hanging up his trademark shorts and dark glasses at the end of this seasom the rumour mill has been turning as to who would replace him as Arsene Wenger’s number two.

Such ex-Arsenal greats as Tony Adams, Dennis Bergkamp and Martin Keown had been touted for the role however Arsene Wenger and the board have turned to another ex player in the form of academy head coach and defensive great Steve Bould.

Bould has been part of the youth coaching set up at Arsenal since 2001 and has helped guide the youngsters to  Premier Academy League victories in 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and the FA Youth Cup in 2008-2009.

For anyone who was too young, not yet an Arsenal fan or living under a rock here is a list of honours that Bould won as part of that famous back four:

  • League championship winner: 1988-89, 1990-91, 1997-98
  • FA Cup winner 1993
  • League Cup winner 1993
  • UEFA Cup Winners Cup winner 1994 (and runner-up 1995)

New Arsenal home kit 2012/2013

7 05 2012

Well Arse chums today is the day that you can pre-order your 2012/13 home and goalkeeper kits.

I know exciting isn’t it!

So without any further ado here is the home kit in all it’s glory….

I know huh, bit of a damp squib… I first saw some leaked images of this a few months ago and was really not impressed at the time with the little hoops on the arms. Apparently they are supposed to be an “infusion of Brtitishness” but in my not so humble opinion just look a little bit shit.

As for the goalie kit…

I kinda like it, just not as much as I like the current jersey though, guess Gazidis and co. are more concerned about picking up a few quid more than they are with my fashion tastes though so hey ho.

To round things out here are a few of the lads looking oh so trendy

Erm Yeah….

2 05 2012

So it’s been a while…how’s everyone doing out there?

Guess I should apologise for the lack of quality content in recent months, apparently in my World, Mikel Arteta joining Arsenal is kinda a big deal!

So why the prolonged absence I hear you cry?? Erm yeah good question I guess.

Wish there was some sort of big exciting story to tell about how I got into a knife fight with a hobo dressed as Papa Smurf or how I was abducted by aliens but in reality life has just been damn busy…Damn good but busy.

Loads of new stuff to talk about, some of it exciting, most of it not but this is my blog so if you don’t like it you know where the door is.

Joel Campbell signs for Arsenal

19 08 2011

Despite seemingly stringing the club along not that long ago Costa Rican starlet Joel Campbell has today finalised his transfer to Arsenal.

The transfer was announced last week but I have held my tongue on commenting until it is all signed, sealed and delivered as it isn’t that long ago that we had supposedly put this one to bed.

Campbell is a talented young striker who many are predicting will be able to walk straight into the first team. Admittedly with how threadbare we look at the moment Herman Munster could get a nod tomorrow but even so.

I know youtube videos are about as useful as a chocolate tea kettle but if you want to have a look at a nice spot of finishing from our newest addition have a look here….

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas joins Tractor Boys

26 07 2011

It’s not often I get to see transfers involving my two favourite teams =  Arsenal and of course the “Pride of East Anglia”, Ipswich Town… well today is one of those rare days.

The transfer in question is of course Jay Emmanuel-Thomas’ permanent move to the tractor boys for a figure somewhere in the region of £1.1 million.

JET came to prominence when he captained the Arsenal side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2009 but has subsequently struggled to find a place in Arsene Wenger’s plans and has had successive loan spells at Blackpool, Cardiff and Doncaster.

JET can play anywhere up top and has even deputised at left back before but seems to be at his best when employed in an attacking midfield role. There is no doubt in my mind that he is a very talented youngster and flashes of his brilliance have crept through on occasion however on seeing some of his appearances for Cardiff on loan he is also a player who can frustrate fans and doesn’t always look as if his heart is in it…perhaps that is why Wenger hasn’t given him the same chances shown to Jack Wilshere or Aaron Ramsey in recent seasons.

Whether Paul Jewell can get the best out of him remains to be seen but I think it is a decent bit of business for everyone involved, especially as it would seem that Arsenal have had a hefty sell on clause written into the deal…

Welcome Gervinho

11 07 2011

Well my beloved Arsenal are finally off the mark with a meaningful transfer and in usual Arsenal fashion it is the worst kept secret of the summer….

Gervinho

Headed goals anyone…
