Sanogo a go go

4 06 2013

Despite not being officially announced as of yet it is looking more or less in the bag that promising French striker Yaya Sanogo will be joining Arsenal during the Summer transfer window.

It has been widely reported that the Auxerre and French U21 player would be joining the Gunners on a free transfer in an attempt to take his career to the next level after a groin injury saw him sit out most of the 2012 season on the sidelines.

8 goals in 7 games for the Ligue 2 outift has seen comparisons drawn with a certain Thierry Henry…

According to comments made by Sanogo he had contract offers from a number of teams include Lille however a personal visit from Arsene Wenger convinced him that a move to the Emirates would be the right one to make.

Arsenal sign 30M a year kit deal with Puma

8 05 2013

After months of speculation it has finally come to light that Arsenal will be severing their 20 year connection with Nike when the current kit deal expires in 2014.

It has long been suspected that the Gunners would make the switch to Adidas if a new deal couldn’t be agreed with Nike however it would seem they have been pipped to the post by rivals Puma with a staggering 30 million plus a year deal potentially worth 170M over the 5 year course of the contract.

This deal will dwarfs Liverpool’s 25mill a year arrangement with Warrior and see the Gunners sitting top of the tree for kit deals in English sport.

The news of this massive new kit deal follows hot on the heels of Emirates renewing their sponsorship of Arsenal with a bumper new deal.

Happy times fellow gooners, happy times 🙂

Giroud signs for Arsenal….

18 06 2012

Football News: Olivier Giroud France

According to Sky Sports sources Arsenal have reached an agreement with Montpellier for striker Olivier Giroud.

It is understood that Arsenal have agreed to meet the release clause in Giroud’s Montpellier contract, which has variously been reported to be between €12 million and €16m (£9.6-£12.8m).

Arsenal were given the green light to sign the 25-year-old, who is part of Laurent Blanc`s squad at the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, last week by Montpellier after Giroud signalled that he wanted to move to north London.

Giroud, who has two years remaining on his Montpellier contract, has agreed a £50,000-a-week four-year deal, which will treble his current wages of around £15,000-a-week.

If this is indeed the case and I reckon it is Giroud will become Arsenal’s second signing of the close season after Lukas Podolski once the deal is completed.

Giroud to Arsenal

12 06 2012

Ooh to, ooh to be, ooh to be ooh-la-la! Another French signing for Gooners?

It is being widely reported this morning that much fancied French striker Olivier Giroud will be plying his trade in the Premier league for Arsenal next season.

Giroud scored 25 goals last season to help Montpellier win the Ligue 1 title, igniting the interest of several top clubs.

However news has come out from Montpellier suggesting that a 13 million pound deal has been agreed which could also see out of favour Chamakh making the switch back to French football.

Following hot on the heels of the nice and early deal for Podolski this could finally be the Summer that Gunners have been longing for….

Happy St Totteringham’s Day

14 05 2012

So we did it… far, far later in the year than I would have liked but you know what they say, better late than never.

A 3-2 win against the “Baggies” yesterday saw us snatch third place therefore guaranteeing us Champions League football again next year.

Perhaps more importantly, well for me at least, a win yesterday means that T*ttenham finish fourth….

Now excuse my ignorance here but I am fairly sure that 4th is below 3rd in the table. What’s that? It is you say.

Well in that case allow me to wish you a very happy St Totteringham’s Day.

Well I am so glad to see that the much talked of “Power Shift” in North London is still in effect and that Spurs best team in living memory has done oh so well.

Except they didn’t…Hahahahahahahahaha. Let this be a lesson to all of you fans of the chicken on a basketball lads; premature gloating, boasting and a chip on the shoulder that McCains would be proud of get you precisely nothing.

All of a sudden I am hoping that Chelski play a blinder in the Champions League final and give Bayern an absolute thumping. Not because I like Chelsea, really I don’t, but just to ensure that you mugs get everything you deserve in the form of some nice Thursday night football.

New Arsenal home kit 2012/2013

7 05 2012

Well Arse chums today is the day that you can pre-order your 2012/13 home and goalkeeper kits.

I know exciting isn’t it!

So without any further ado here is the home kit in all it’s glory….

I know huh, bit of a damp squib… I first saw some leaked images of this a few months ago and was really not impressed at the time with the little hoops on the arms. Apparently they are supposed to be an “infusion of Brtitishness” but in my not so humble opinion just look a little bit shit.

As for the goalie kit…

I kinda like it, just not as much as I like the current jersey though, guess Gazidis and co. are more concerned about picking up a few quid more than they are with my fashion tastes though so hey ho.

To round things out here are a few of the lads looking oh so trendy

125th anniversary Arsenal kit unveiled

2 05 2011

I don’t normally let my love of football run over into any of my posts but this time I just couldn’t resist.

2011 is the 125th anniversary of the founding of my beloved Arsenal F.C. and to mark the occasion the club are releasing redesigned kits with a special rendition of the club crest.

Feast your eyes on the home kit below…

And here is a close up of that crest with a bit of blurb about the various elements of it…

Last but not least we have the image of the away kit from the guys over at Arsenalinsider

With more than a passing resemblance to the 1995 away kit I can honestly say I am not keen on sporting that particular number at coming matches…
